Shoveling Snow off the Roof in Massachusetts ~ Ice Dams ~ 2/5/11

!±8± Shoveling Snow off the Roof in Massachusetts ~ Ice Dams ~ 2/5/11

Feb. 5, 2011 ~ Our roof had 2-3 feet of heavy wet snow and large Ice Dams above the gutters. There have been many roof collapses In Massachusetts in the past week. Hubby had to go up on the roof which was very slippery and dangerous and shovel off the snow. He chiseled some of the ice off to make a channel for the melting snow and ice to get off the roof and also added Ice Melt (Calcium Chloride). If the water can't get off the roof it can back up under the shingles and end up causing roof damage and drip into the walls/ceilings. It was a big job.
